Up Down Up Down

Yay -- Tax refund came today!

Boo -- Daycare payment for the next 3 months is due tomorrow (bye-bye tax refund!).

Yay -- My work hours finally picked up!

Boo -- Life insurance payment is due this month.

Yay -- Emma started saying her own name and pointing to herself!

Boo -- She's up 4-5 times a night again and refusing to go to bed at night sometimes.

Yay -- I ate dairy-free oreo cookies for lunch! (there is no Boo to this, I just wanted to end on a good note, LOL). :)

15 Month Stats

Emma is exactly 21 pounds naked at the pediatrician's office, and was 31 1/2 inches tall (exactly what I predicted!). She is in the 80th %ile for height, and in the 25th %ile for weight, which is consistent for her. Tall, skinny baby!

She got the last Hep B shot today, and her first MMR. And she had a double ear infection, which explains the horrible week we've had sleeping. We'll go back in three more months for her 18-month appointment. The pediatrician is happy with her development, and so is Mommy. :)

My messy baby girl is growing up way too fast!

Video Time!

Videos from the last few weeks to share.

The world from Emma's View:

We went to a local Metro Park that had a great children's play area -- Emma could actually get up and down on the slide almost by herself. She absolutely loved it! And she started consistently signing "more" this past week, so she used it over and over again.

I'll upload a few tomorrow when I have a chance... bedtime for tonight. Rough day, hopefully a peaceful night.

Potty!

Emma went wee-wee while on her potty tonight! We just sat her on it while she was waiting for her bath water to run, and Daddy handed her a warm washcloth -- it triggered the urge and she acted like such a big girl! We were so excited. One day short of 15 months old. :)

15 Month Update

While my sweetheart is sleeping, I'll try to do a quick update.

At 15 months, Emma is:

*About 21.5 pounds (we have our official appointment for weight/height on Friday) and 31.5 inches tall.

*Loving all kinds of solid foods. Our new favorites: Beans (of all kinds, but especially kidney beans, navy beans and baked beans), pepperoni, mozzarella goat cheese, and banana! We made her a teeny-tiny hamburger just for herself the other day, with beef from Grandpa Miller's farm and home-made buns from Mommy! She enjoyed having that.

*She ate an ENTIRE banana by herself for her snack yesterday afternoon. That's the first time she's eaten the entire thing. AND she held it by herself. The only thing I did was help her with the peel when she needed it down further.

*She's consistently making the signs for "more," "all done," "milk" and "thank you." Not so consistently we sometimes see "diaper" and what I think is our "kiss" sign.

*She's saying more and more words daily, here's the current list: Mommy, Daddy, Kitty, Delilah, Grandma, Aunt Bobbi, Heather, Pretty, All Done, More, Up, Banana, Yum, No, Now, Bubble, Bath, Out, and probably a few more than I've forgotten.

*We purchased a little toilet yesterday and she *loves* sitting on it. I think potty training might be easier than I think (or hope so anyway!).

*She still absolutely loves bath time and her bubbles.

*She loves outside time. We'll take her outside to play, or for a walk in our wagon, and she gets SO excited.

*She still loves to read, and knows her books now. We'll ask her to get "Peek-a-boo" or "The Itsy Bitsy Spider" or others, and she'll go get the correct books. She'll bring books to us, back up onto our laps and expect us to read. It's adorable.

*Our new thing is playing piano every day. She'll sit on my lap or on the bench, and she'll play a few things. At first it was just banging on the keys, now she tries to hit individual keys with her fingers. We have a picture of Grandma Miller up on the piano, and usually she'll see it, point and wave to the picture, say "Grannma?" and then want to kiss the picture. It just about breaks my heart. But I know Grandma Miller would be the first to love something like that, and want to hear her play, so we leave Grandma's picture there and I just foster that continued "relationship" Emma has with her.

*She easily transitioned to the Toddler room at daycare and has re-discovered her friends there. She's entirely off of bottles there, and drinks her breastmilk from a cup. She does love her water, and will sometimes take a glass of almond milk. It really depends on her mood.

*We are still breastfeeding! Usually in the morning around 5am, then again at 6am, I pump usually around noon when I'm at work, then she feeds in the evening before bedtime, around 7:30 or so. So we're down to 3-4 times a day during the week, a little more on the weekends.

*Sleep continues to be an issue. She's reliably taking a 75 minute nap from 12:30 or so daily. We try to go to sleep between 7:30 and 8pm (I'd like it to be earlier but with the time change and the daylight, it's virtually impossible at this point), and she'll wake up between 6:30 and 7am. She'll usually sleep very soundly until about 10:30pm, then she'll come to bed with us. She'll rouse around 2:30 or so, and sometimes around 4:30 again. After 4:30, she gets very restless and do what I call her "alligator" roll -- she'll just roll round and round and round in the same spot, usually up against me. She's asleep when she's doing it, but it definitely keeps me awake. I'm averaging about 6 hours of broken sleep a night still.

I know there's more, but that's all for the moment. It's almost wake-up time.

Reading

We've finally moved into a phase where books are for Reading, not for Eating! Daddy is particularly enjoying this phase. She loves picture books that have actual pictures of babies, not so much other books yet. We did get a "Millie the Cow" book from the library that she seems to enjoy, I think because of all the bright colors.

Her *favorite* book right now is called "All About Me." It is a board book that has different flip pages and things about body parts, and she's gotten where she'll mostly follow along with what the babies are doing. She also loves to flip open the pages herself.

Her second favorite book is "Cow Moo Me" and a close third are all the picture books like "Eat!", "Sleep," "Hugs and Kisses," and "Peekaboo."

Fun Pictures

Just a few pictures of my 14-month old wonder. She's growing up so fast -- when I look at her now, I can barely remember my newborn.

We call her "Pretty Princess Polka-Dot." The crown was $1 at the Jo-Ann's store, and the blanket is clipped together with a clothes-pin! Cheap royalty. :)

And her hair has grown long enough already that she can have another shampoo horn! She absolutely LOVES bath-time. We've had to do a bath every night night, she'll say "Bubbles" and run to the bathtub, and try to throw her leg over to climb in. It's adorable.
