Before Noodle comes, I wanted Emma to have a special night alone with just the two of us. So we splurged (after Joe and I culled through lots of things we aren't using and did a big Craig'sList, Freecycle, and Amazon-ing and got a little money) and I reserved a night at a hotel that had a kid-friendly swimming pool, free breakfast and big beds. It also had a mini-fridge, which was perfect. It wasn't too far from home, but far enough away that it felt like we were getting "away" from home.
Emma was so excited! She couldn't wait to pack, and she talked about it all week long. We packed swimsuits, clothes, snacks, drinks, and some movies to watch. We went Saturday afternoon, got there and settled in, and then went down to the pool area -- which had a slide and some other things. Here she is, posing on the bed.
We don't have a king-sized bed, so this was really a special little treat for the two of us (especially as huge as I'm getting). Unfortunately the pool area was SO loud (between the fountains they had and just a loud ventilation system), she covered her ears and didn't want to stay very long. So we went back up, dried off, got in our PJ's (around 5pm or so) and then watched movies. We ordered pizza in, and snuggled. It was heaven.
Both of us crashed around 9pm, although it was a rough night. The heat/air system was also horribly loud --it woke both of us up every time it turned on, which was about every 30 minutes. So finally at 2am, I turned the entire system off. Then we got some good sleep, and snuggled most of the night. This is what I got to wake up next to..... who wouldn't want to snuggle with such a cutie.
Daddy drove up and joined us for breakfast, and also brought some ear plugs that were safe for the pool. So we went back down and were there for another 40 minutes or so before she decided she was done. It would have been nice except it really started to get crowded. But overall, what a wonderful night and special time with my little girl.
It was 70 degrees today, sunny and gorgeous. I couldn't ask for a more beautiful day -- last one we'll have for a while, as the temp is going to drop and it'll rain all day tomorrow. But we got a chance to rake leaves, and Daddy mowed the lawn for probably the last time this year. Emma crawled into a pile of leaves and said she was a "squirrel." So here's my squirrel girl. :)
I'm exhausted, but happy. I don't know if I'm going to make it to 40 weeks this time -- I'm 38w1d today, and was 2cm dilated on Wednesday, and started losing some of my mucous plug today (sorry for the TMI). I'm ready to meet this little guy, but I want him to stay in there until at least the 15th, Aunt Anne can't make it until after then!
