15 Month Update

While my sweetheart is sleeping, I'll try to do a quick update.

At 15 months, Emma is:

*About 21.5 pounds (we have our official appointment for weight/height on Friday) and 31.5 inches tall.

*Loving all kinds of solid foods. Our new favorites: Beans (of all kinds, but especially kidney beans, navy beans and baked beans), pepperoni, mozzarella goat cheese, and banana! We made her a teeny-tiny hamburger just for herself the other day, with beef from Grandpa Miller's farm and home-made buns from Mommy! She enjoyed having that.

*She ate an ENTIRE banana by herself for her snack yesterday afternoon. That's the first time she's eaten the entire thing. AND she held it by herself. The only thing I did was help her with the peel when she needed it down further.

*She's consistently making the signs for "more," "all done," "milk" and "thank you." Not so consistently we sometimes see "diaper" and what I think is our "kiss" sign.

*She's saying more and more words daily, here's the current list: Mommy, Daddy, Kitty, Delilah, Grandma, Aunt Bobbi, Heather, Pretty, All Done, More, Up, Banana, Yum, No, Now, Bubble, Bath, Out, and probably a few more than I've forgotten.

*We purchased a little toilet yesterday and she *loves* sitting on it. I think potty training might be easier than I think (or hope so anyway!).

*She still absolutely loves bath time and her bubbles.

*She loves outside time. We'll take her outside to play, or for a walk in our wagon, and she gets SO excited.

*She still loves to read, and knows her books now. We'll ask her to get "Peek-a-boo" or "The Itsy Bitsy Spider" or others, and she'll go get the correct books. She'll bring books to us, back up onto our laps and expect us to read. It's adorable.

*Our new thing is playing piano every day. She'll sit on my lap or on the bench, and she'll play a few things. At first it was just banging on the keys, now she tries to hit individual keys with her fingers. We have a picture of Grandma Miller up on the piano, and usually she'll see it, point and wave to the picture, say "Grannma?" and then want to kiss the picture. It just about breaks my heart. But I know Grandma Miller would be the first to love something like that, and want to hear her play, so we leave Grandma's picture there and I just foster that continued "relationship" Emma has with her.

*She easily transitioned to the Toddler room at daycare and has re-discovered her friends there. She's entirely off of bottles there, and drinks her breastmilk from a cup. She does love her water, and will sometimes take a glass of almond milk. It really depends on her mood.

*We are still breastfeeding! Usually in the morning around 5am, then again at 6am, I pump usually around noon when I'm at work, then she feeds in the evening before bedtime, around 7:30 or so. So we're down to 3-4 times a day during the week, a little more on the weekends.

*Sleep continues to be an issue. She's reliably taking a 75 minute nap from 12:30 or so daily. We try to go to sleep between 7:30 and 8pm (I'd like it to be earlier but with the time change and the daylight, it's virtually impossible at this point), and she'll wake up between 6:30 and 7am. She'll usually sleep very soundly until about 10:30pm, then she'll come to bed with us. She'll rouse around 2:30 or so, and sometimes around 4:30 again. After 4:30, she gets very restless and do what I call her "alligator" roll -- she'll just roll round and round and round in the same spot, usually up against me. She's asleep when she's doing it, but it definitely keeps me awake. I'm averaging about 6 hours of broken sleep a night still.

I know there's more, but that's all for the moment. It's almost wake-up time.
